About History Lab

History Lab serves as a vital platform for the global Italian community and offers a rich tapestry of programming that spans a wide range of interests, including insightful documentaries, history, and interviews

History Lab is a television channel dedicated to history and memory; as well as a framework for reflection on the dissemination of these issues. This is an experimental laboratory-based project lasting three years.

From October 17, 2011, History Lab has experimented with programming consisting of a sequence of audiovisual and photographic contents.

Pieces made by processing materials from the archives of the Trentino Historical Museum Foundation. Short biographies, super 8, anecdotes extracted from interviews with witnesses, journeys in photographic backgrounds alternated with readings taken from the Popular Writing Archive. The idea was to create a composite narrative that mixes speech with the language of television and the style of the web.

In the first period, the visual and sound continuum was interrupted by historical documentaries or by the first productions of History Lab. These include the Labs. A journey into the world of associations, institutions or organizations that deal with history and memory in Trentino. A behind-the-scenes exploration of the work of many volunteers and professionals that also hosts short self-produced contents by the associations.

New formats are periodically created and broadcast and the History Lab 3 × 3 competition is promoted in the spring.

For some productions the study carried out in the second half of 2012 via Tommaso Gar 29 in Trento is used. From that moment on, the study has become an important resource.

Among the objectives of History Lab, there is the commitment to experiment with new languages and maintain a constant openness to ideas and proposals coming from the territory, that is, realities, institutions and individuals interested in the themes of history and memory.

History Lab is a project of the Trentino Historical Museum Foundation created in collaboration with the TV publisher OP.IM Srl To view History Lab on TV, it is necessary to start an automatic TV tuning: it is broadcast on 602 or - in some devices - on the other channel that receives the signal. At the moment, it is received in Trentino Alto Adige - Südtirol.
